FAQs for DERC's Update during COVID-19
Q.1: During Lockdown period, on what basis my electricity bill will get generated?
Answer: As per DERC guidelines, Electricity Bills shall be raised on Provisional basis for all consumers (Excluding customers having Smart Meters and Automatic Meter Reading). Alternatively, customer may provide their meter reading along with photographic proof on our Whatsapp number 9667558009 to generate reading based bill.
Q.2: During Lockdown, will I get my Electricity bill delivered to my premise?
Answer: Safety of all stakeholders is of prime importance at Tata Power-DDL, considering the situation of lockdown and social distancing guidelines, physical copy of bill could not be delivered to consumers till the period of lockdown. However, soft copy of bills shall be delivered to registered email id, Bill intimation will be sent through SMS on registered mobile number, and bill on Whatsapp can be availed. - You may also register yourself for getting e-bill on whatsapp. Give missed call from your registered mobile number at 7303482071 to enrol for whatsapp opt-in service. - You may also download the bill from Tata Power-DDL website (visit: tatapower-ddl.com) or - You can call us at toll free number 19124. *It is requested to update your registered mobile numbers with us in case of change.
Q.3: My Shop/Factory/Office is closed during lockdown. There was no electricity consumption during these days. Do I still have to pay Fixed Charges for my Electricity Connection?
Answer: An option to defer the Fixed Charges for next three billing cycles beginning from 24th March 2020 till 30th June 2020 is available for all consumers covered under Public Utilities, Industrial and Non-Domestic Tariff Categories. Consumer may avail this facility by registering their CA on: - Call at our Toll Free number 19124 Necessary arrangement will also be created on Tata Power-DDL Website – www.tatapower-ddl.com and TPDDL connect Mobile App. Consumers however, if desires, shall pay Fixed Charges for the bills raised during this period. Further, the fixed charges accumulated over the said period shall be charged in three equal instalments in next three billing cycles after 30th June 2020 (i.e., in the bills raised in July, Aug, Sep) without any LPSC.
Q.4: I missed my last payment date. Will there be any rebate on Late Payment Charges (LPSC) if I pay now?
Answer: Yes. As per DERC directives, for bills raised during the period 24th March 2020 to 30th June 2020, LPSC will be levied at a revised rate. Instead of 18% per annum, LPSC shall be charged tentatively for 9.75%* per annum. * LPSC will be levied on the basis of actual cost of working capital loan or 12% per annum whichever is lower. Subject to Management approval.
Q.5: Amid Lockdown situation the payment due date of my bill is lapsed, is there any relief on due date? Do I have to pay LPSC for paying late?
Answer: The Due date of Electricity Bills raised during the period starting from 24th March 2020 to 30th June 2020 will be extended further by two weeks over scheduled due date without attracting any LPSC for payment. No LPSC will be charged for due date extended period.
Q.6: If I pay my bill online, do I have to pay Bank Charges also?
Answer: No Banking Charges/Processing Fee/Convenience Fee, if any, are charged by Tata Power-DDL for payment made through any digital mode (like, Net banking/ NEFT Fund Transfer, Mobile Wallet, etc).
For Payment being done through Debit/Credit card will not attract Convenience Fee upto Rs. 10,000/- (which earlier was Rs. 5000/-).
Note-This scheme is valid only from March 24, 2020 till June 30, 2020.
Q.7: During this Lockdown period, is there any incentive for me if I pay my Electricity Bill before time?
Answer: To incentivize the consumers to pay their bills on time, rebate scheme has been introduced by DERC. Same is applicable to all consumers for their bills raised (actual/provisional) during the period of 24th March 2020 till 30th June 2020 on Net Demand Raised (excluding any outstanding arrear on or before 24th March 2020).
1. Payment received within 1st to 7th Day of Billing Date (bill generation date): 1.0% of the Bill amount (excluding arrears if any) or Rs 200 (whichever is lower) will be waived.
2. Payment received within 8th to 14th Day of Billing Date (bill generation date): 0.5% of the Bill amount (excluding arrears if any) or Rs 150 (whichever is lower) will be waived.
3. No rebate is applicable on part payment made by the customer.
4. Additional rebate of Rs 20/- per bill, if actual meter reading(s) is furnished by the consumer himself. Reading can be provided by sending photographic proof of reading through whatsapp at 9667558009.
*The above-mentioned rebate scheme shall be applicable on the Net Amount payable (i.e., Current Demand – Govt subsidy + adjustment like CD interest, etc.) by the consumer.
*No Rebate shall be provided on any Arrear/outstanding amount on or before 24th March 2020.
FAQs for Provisional Billing of Industrial & Commercial Consumers
Q.1: During Lockdown period, on what basis my electricity bill will get generated?
Answer: As per DERC guidelines, Electricity Bills shall be raised on Provisional basis for all consumers (Excluding customers having Smart Meters and Automatic Meter Reading). Alternatively, customer may provide their meter reading along with photographic proof on our Whatsapp number 9667558009 to generate reading based bill.
Q.2: My Shop / Factory is closed and I cannot provide reading for bill generation. In this case, how will my bill be generated?
Answer: For Industrial and Non-Domestic category of electricity consumers, the Monthly bill will include Only Fixed Charges and associated applicable charges, and energy consumption shall be treated as Nil.
However, in cases where meter reading has been obtained through Smart Meters / AMR, Consumer’s Monthly bill shall be raised on actual consumption of electricity recorded by the meter.
Q.3: My Shop/Factory/Office is closed during lockdown. There was no electricity consumption during these days. Do I still have to pay Fixed Charges for my Electricity Connection?
As per DERC Guidelines, Fixed Charges and other applicable charges need to be paid for the lockdown period.
However, Consumers covered under Public Utilities, Industrial and Non-Domestic Tariff Categories only have an option to defer the Fixed Charges for next three billing cycles beginning from 24th March 2020 till 30th June 2020.

For those availing this facility, the fixed charges accumulated over the said period shall be charged in three equal instalments in next three billing cycles after 30th June 2020 (i.e., in the bills raised in July, Aug, Sep) without any LPSC.
However, if any consumers desires, he/she shall pay Fixed Charges for the bills raised during this period as per due date.
Q.4: Amid Lockdown, since my Shop / Factory is closed for a long time, can I postpone the payment of my Electricity Bill? Will there be any additional charges if payment is delayed?
Answer: As per DERC Guidelines, the Due date of Electricity Bills raised during the period starting from 24th March 2020 to 30th June 2020 will be extended further by two weeks over scheduled due date (total 30 Days from Bill generation date) without attracting any LPSC. No LPSC will be charged during the due date extended period.
Q.5: If I pay my bill before Due Date, is there any incentive for me?
