• Barwala Village Creates History with Community Solar Oath, Emerging as a Flagbearer of Clean Energy Adoption
In a historic and inspiring step toward a sustainable future, Tata Power-DDL, through its Village Customer Group (VCG–Solar), successfully organized a Mega Solar Awareness Camp at the Birla Temple premises, Barwala Village, recently. The landmark event witnessed the participation of over 200 villagers, reflecting strong community commitment toward rooftop solar adoption and clean energy transition.
The defining moment of the program was the Solar Oath Ceremony, where 50 members of the Barwala Vikas Mandal, along with local sports players, community leaders, and social representatives, collectively pledged to promote rooftop solar in the village. These participants took on the role of “Village Solar Brand Ambassador Customers,” marking a first-of-its-kind grassroots commitment in the rural belt.
The oath ceremony was conducted in the esteemed presence of Ms. Anju Aman Dabas, Local Councilor, and Ms. Fiza Ravinder Inderraj, Social Worker and representative of the Hon’ble Minister of Delhi, Mr. Ravinder Inderraj, who appreciated the initiative and urged villagers to collectively work towards transforming Barwala into a model solar village.
The mega awareness camp featured a series of impactful and engaging activities designed to strengthen solar literacy and community participation, including:
• A Solar Awareness Rally led by Tata Power-DDL’s Solar Sakhis, covering key areas of Barwala village
• An interactive Rooftop Solar Workshop by Tata Power-DDL’s solar experts, highlighting installation processes, government subsidies, policies, and system maintenance
• A powerful Nukkad Natak (street play) focusing on energy conservation, cost savings, and environmental protection
• Recognition of six existing rooftop solar customers for their leadership in adopting clean energy
• Felicitation of 15 young sports players as symbols of youth leadership and sustainability ambassadors
• On-the-spot solar registrations and site facilitation for interested residents
During the customer recognition ceremony, early solar adopters from Barwala were applauded for setting an example for the entire community by embracing green technology.
The program concluded on a high note with Tata Power-DDL and VCG–Solar expressing sincere appreciation to the residents of Barwala, community leaders, youth, and social representatives for their enthusiastic participation. The event reinforced Tata Power-DDL’s commitment to empowering villages through clean energy solutions and positioned Barwala as a torchbearer of community-driven solar adoption.
