I am Dipti Gehlot, a graduate woman married to a man with average educational qualification. I live in Rajapura Gurmandi slum settlement of Delhi. I earn ₹12,000 to ₹15,000 per month and my husband is proud of my achievements. As a member of Tata Power-DDL's ABHA program, which aims to empower women from the underprivileged section of the society through focused social innovation initiatives, I am also transforming the lives of 25-30 women by guiding them through the company’s focused social innovation programs. I have found a purpose in my life. Now, I feel financially empowered and do not have to ask anyone for money. Through regular trainings, we learn new things that help us to be more efficient. My achievement makes me feel that I am a woman of substance and can contribute my bit towards bringing a lasting change in the society.

My name is Babti and I reside in C-block Jahangirpuri. I am a member of a Self Help Group based in Jahangirpuri. My husband is a factory worker and his salary is meagre, often making it difficult to meet our basic necessities. To support my husband, I began looking for ways to earn. This is when I came across Jahangirpuri VT Centre and was introduced to the concept of SHG. I enrolled for the program and started taking training in soft money making. After the training, I started my business of making soft toys at home. I take orders, prepare the products and fulfil the demands. This has enabled me to earn a monthly income of ₹20,000 - ₹24,000. I am financially independent now and can contribute to my family’s income. The financial condition of my family has greatly improved and for this, I am highly indebted to Tata Power-DDL and Save the Children.

My name is Pushpa and I am a WLC (Women Literacy Centre) learner. Before I joined the WLC, I was completely illiterate. Now, after completing the literacy sessions conducted by Tata Power-DDL, I am able to read, write and do basic arithmetic. This has not only helped me in managing my home better but has also built my self-confidence. I feel proud that I can now help my children with their studies and also take informed decisions while shopping or using mobile phones.

My name is Ravi and I come from an underprivileged background. I enrolled in Tata Power-DDL’s VT Centre where I was trained in computer skills. I have now secured a job at a data entry firm and am earning ₹10,000 per month. My life has changed significantly and I owe this transformation to the training and mentorship I received at the VT Centre.

I am Meena from the Mukundpur JJ cluster. Earlier, clean water was a distant dream. But with the installation of the RO Plant by Tata Power-DDL, we now have access to safe drinking water at nominal rates. It has improved our health and reduced our medical bills significantly.

My name is Sunil and I belong to a marginalized community. With the support of Tata Power-DDL's Affirmative Action program, I got training in electrical maintenance and have now been employed with a contractor. My earnings have helped improve my family’s standard of living.

I am Farah and I was once a school dropout. Through the Roshni remedial education program of Tata Power-DDL, I have been able to go back to school. Today, I’m in class 9 and want to become a teacher to help other children in my community who may be struggling like I once did.
