Tata Power Delhi Distribution Limited hosts its first ever Team Oriented Problem Solving (TOPS) Convention in association with the Indian Society for QualityDate : Oct 03, 2022

•  Participants were evaluated using the Basic Problem Solving and Advanced Problem Solving methodology

Setting a new benchmark in the utility space, Tata Power-DDL hosted the Team Oriented Problem Solving (TOPS) Convention 2022, in collaboration with the Indian Society for Quality (ISQ) NCR chapter. This convention was held at Tata Power-DDL Learning Centre, Sector 11, Rohini, New Delhi. The prime focus of the initiative was to enhance the team spirit and scientific approach towards problem-solving, along with providing a platform for exchange of best practices and learning new skills.

The TOPS Convention 2022 witnessed overwhelming participation from over 160 people from 24 companies from Tier I & II cities. Case studies focusing on New Product Development, Six Sigma, Customer Concern Resolution, Industry 4.0, Life Cycle Assessment etc. were presented to the jury members. The competition was divided into two categories - Basic Problem Solving (usage of 7 QC Tools, Why-Why analysis and QC Story) and Advanced Problem Solving (usage of tools such as Lean, Six Sigma etc.).

Mr. Ganesh Srinivasan, CEO of Tata Power-DDL, Mr. Janak Mehta, President-ISQ, Mr. Prabhakar Shettigar, Executive Director- ISQ, NCR Chapter and Mr. Kunal Pareek, Head of Department-BE&TQM & Hon. Secretary ISQ-NCR chapter graced the TOPS Convention 2022.

The event observed an overwhelming participation of over 160 people comprising 48 teams which were evaluated by an experienced and diverse Jury panel.

The convention witnessed participation from 24 companies across industry segments such as Tata Steel, Indus Towers, BOSCH, Tata Motors, SRF Ltd, Dr. Reddy’s Laboratories, Ashok Leyland, HDFC Life, Hero Motocorp, MG Motors, Mahindra & Mahindra Ltd. including seven teams from Tata Power-DDL.

Tata Power-DDL empowers employees at all levels who are ready to face strategic challenges and achieve business goals. Four different projects of Tata Power-DDL won accolades in the respective Basic and Advanced Categories.

About Indian Society for Quality (ISQ):

ISQ was registered under Societies Registration Act of 1860 at Delhi in December 1996 when like-minded quality professionals, industry experts from different organisations met together and felt the need to create a non-profit body to disseminate Total Quality as a way of life in every individual. The objective of TOPS convention is to promote scientific approach towards problem-solving with teamwork, customer-centric approach and technical and soft skills capability enhancement by sharing/ learning through some of the best case studies from organisations of repute. Such a program is in line with the mission of ISQ in disseminating knowledge about quality.

The competition is open to supervisors/ executives from OEMs, tier 1 & 2 companies, process and service organisations applicable to diverse areas of problem-solving and it is methodology agnostic.
