- Soaring temperature and heat wave main reasons behind the spurt in demand
- Expects its peak demand to touch 1930 MW in the coming days

Tata Power Delhi Distribution (Tata Power-DDL) successfully met the peak power demand of 1713 MW today (Thursday) afternoon, highest for this season, without any network constraint and power outage. Delhi as a whole also touched season’s high of 5925 MW amidst the ongoing heat wave.
As per India Meteorological Department (IMD), Delhi is witnessing a severe heat wave with temperatures in the range of 44-46 degrees. The Department has already declared a Red Alert in the city so that the service providers and the government agencies can plan things in advance for the overall public good.
Tata Power-DDL has made adequate arrangements of power of up to 2500 MW along with contingency planning, through long-term tie-ups , bilateral imports & power banking arrangements with other states and upgraded network to ensure regular supply in its area of distribution.
Tata Power-DDL adequately prepared for the summer season even during the lockdown by strengthening its power network and conducting preventive maintenance and condition based maintenance of all critical electrical installations.
