Tata Power-DDL Organizes ‘Annual Rewards & Recognition cum Cultural Event’ for ABHA MembersDate : Jul 14, 2018

ABHAs are women representatives for the programs under company’s Special Consumer Group and  takes care of JJ Consumers

•841 ABHA members from 218 JJ clusters participated in the event

In a bid to support women empowerment, Tata Power Delhi Distribution (Tata Power-DDL) today organized  Annual Rewards and Recognition and Cultural Event for ABHA Members. ABHAs are  representatives of company’s self-help group initiative and are engaged in reaching out to the residents of JJ clusters in order to maximize the visibility and benefits of social innovation initiatives being run by the company. The event was graced by Dr. Vishal Jain, Associate Professor, Bharatiya Vidyapeeth and Mr. Sanjay Banga, CEO, Tata Power-DDL and was attended by more  than 840 members from 218 JJ falling in Tata Power-DDL’s area of distribution. 

The attendees participated in various cultural programs such as music, dance, poetry and skits etc. on the subject of Women Empowerment, etc. along with a performance by Judo depicting self-dependence of women. 171 ABHAs were recognized and honoured for their contribution to bring in the societal change through financial empowerment of thousands of women living in JJ Clusters. A special prize segment for digital ABHA was kept for ABHAs who have assisted households in making digital payments of electricity bills in their areas. A special award ABHAs reporting maximum safety entries and spreading safety awareness via WhatsApp groups was also given. The prizes included LED TVs, Smartphones, Tabs, among others were also presented to top performing Abhas. 

Addressing the participants at the event, Mr. Sanjay Banga, CEO, Tata Power-DDL said, “We at Tata Power – DDL continue to work towards the upliftment of the underprivileged section of the society, specially women, by empowering them through focused social innovation initiatives. The ABHA initiative helps hundreds of  women residing in JJ Clusters both socially and financially.” 

Tata Power-DDL has embraced several community development and welfare initiatives to educate, empower and to bring transformation in the lives of illiterate/uneducated women, students and youth who all are the occupants of JJ clusters of North and North West Delhi under its Social Innovation Program named Saathi. The initiatives are benefiting thousands of underprivileged individuals and giving them opportunities to accomplish their dreams.
